This exhibition focusing on how Paul Klee used materials and techniques to create his work introduces the artist’s techniques and processes of cutting and pasting his work, swapping left and right and combine them into a single work, or turn them into completely separate works. The works, strictly classified and organized by technique, were laid out on within the optimal lengths of the walls, and they were folded into irregular-shaped three-dimensional objects and placed in the exhibition room. The poches block some parts of the exhibition room and create smaller spaces suitable for displaying smaller works at a human scale. Viewers can freely move around the labyrinth of the world of Paul Klee’s works.
素材や技法をどのように用いてパウル・クレーの作品は作られたのか、に焦点を当てたこの展覧会では、クレーが作品を切ったり貼ったり、あるいはそれらを左右入れ替えてひとつの作品に組み替えたり、まったく別々の作品にしたりといった技法とプロセスを紹介する。技法ごとに厳密に分類・整理された作品群を、それぞれ最適な展示壁面長のなかにレイアウトし、それを折り曲げてできた不整形な立体を展示室に配置した。こうしてできたポシェが展示室のボリュームを適度に間引くことになり、小さめの作品サイズと身体スケールに適した空間をつくる。そして観客はパウル・クレーの作品世界の迷宮を自由に動き回ることになる。
