Kon Wajiro Retrospective

This is a retrospective exhibition of Kon Wajiro, who is known as the founder of Modernology, a field of study that collected and analyzed changes in the lives of people and the city of Tokyo during its rapid development to form the metropolis in the early Showa era. Kon’s sketches, photographs and architectural drawings were featured in the exhibition. We designed display cases, display panels, and display tables for different types of materials, as well as studying and designing the layout of the irregular-shaped exhibition room. At the irregular-shaped venue of the Panasonic Shiodome Museum, small display tables and four large boxes respectively made of lauan plywood were placed to divide the exhibition space while keeping a sense of spatial continuity. The sizes of these boxes and tables were carefully determined so that an appropriate sense of distance from the works was maintained.
