Onchi Koshiro

This is the largest-ever retrospective of Koshiro Onchi, the father of abstract art in Japan and one of the leading figures in the modernization of woodblock printing. The exhibition comprises three chapters, and the second chapter is designed as a series of small rooms painted in dark green and rotated at 45 degrees so that viewers can enjoy changes in the viewing sequence while immersing themselves in the world of Onchi’s works. Edges of display cases and openings between the chapters feature 45-degree details in a symbolic way.
